General Rules & Regulations for Students:

1. Students, who do not join semester on time in the beginning of a semester, are liable to be refused permission to continue in the semester. In case of delay in registration, due to any unavoidable cause a written application must be made to the Director through HOD in time. When a student is absent due to sickness, a written application must at once be sent to the Director, along with supporting medical certificate.

2. A regular and punctual attendance in Theory/Practical/CW/SW/ Internal tests of every subject is compulsory by every regular student in order to be eligible to appear in the University examination of the semester. In the case of persistent negligence of work, repeated failures at examination or unreasonable delay in presenting himself/herself for such examination, a student may be required to withdraw from the institute.

3. "EN-MASSE" absence in a class by the students, even for one period, is considered as gross indiscipline. This is strictly prohibited and this would invite disciplinary action by the institute including suspension for the remaining part of semester and even from the examination. The whole class may be detained for examination of that particular subject.

4. All fees and privileges will be forfeited if a student is dismissed for bad conduct or any other reasons.

5. Students are required to replace or repair an apparatus or other property destroyed or damaged due to negligence in handling. This shall also be deductible from the caution money, if replacement or repair is not done.

6. The institute reserves the right to remove the name of any student from the roll list due to ­(a) Failure to pay institute fees on time; (b) Failure to come up to prescribed standard; (c) Use of Mobile phone in the class; (d) Bad conduct with the faculty/ staff.

7. A student will be liable for rustication for behaving in a manner subversive to discipline or for any grave miscount like taking part in any kind of hooliganism either inside or outside the institute premises, intimidation to anyone belonging to the institute, unauthorized absence from attending classes, taking part in any non-academic and antisocial activity in court of law for criminal offences.

8. The institute reserves the right to refuse admission/ registration at its own discretion to any student at the beginning, of any academic semester, for reason of his/her behaving in a manner subversive to discipline or for any grave misconduct and whose behavioural activity in the opinion of the Director may not be considered as conducive to the maintenance of discipline in the institute.

9. Every student should check the percentage of attendance from time to time and the parents/ guardians also should keep a watch in record to the percentage of attendance of their wards and progress in studies. According to present ordinance every student must attend at least 75% of lectures, laboratory classes and must complete Class-work, Sessional-work to qualify to appear in the examinations. The institute does not undertake the responsibility to intimate the shortage of attendance of any student unless asked for.

10. Detention

The student is said to be detained from appearing in examination in any subject(s) (Theory and/or practical) if:

1. He/She fails to keep required attendance as specified in Section 4.1 of

2. He/ She fails to obtain a minimum pass marks in the respective Class-work/ Sessional-work of the subject.

3. For admission to the end examination, he/she must satisfy both the conditions simultaneously. A detained student will not be awarded class-work / Sessional-work marks and will seek fresh admission in the respective subject(s) as per rules for re-registration of detained students.

11. Rules for Re-registration of Detained candidates­

1. A detained student in any semester (A or B) of a year shall not be registered for a next higher year in any semester.

2. A detained student in any subject/s shall be registered for that subject/s only during the semester when the teaching in that subject/s is available for regular students. That is, a student detained in any subject of 'A' semester will be registered for repeating that subject only for the semester July to November. Similarly a student detained in any subject of 'B' semester will be registered for repeating that subject only for the semester December to April.

3. A student cannot be registered simultaneously for the teaching of two semesters.

4. Since the teaching of all the subjects of both the semesters are available in every semester for I year, a student detained in any subject of I year (Semester 'A' or 'B') may take registration as regular repeater in any semester with the regular teaching of other branch also. However it will be subject to condition 3 above.


Rules 12 and 13 of Ordinance No.7 of M.P. Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam 1973 ­.

Rule 12.

Every student in the university shall at all times be of good behaviour, show diligence in studies, maintain decorum and dignity, take proper interest in co-curricular activities and observe all rules of discipline of the institution of which he/she is a student of the university.

Rule 13.

(i) When a student has been guilty of breach of discipline within or outside the premises of the university or an institution, or persistent idleness or has been guilty of misconduct, the head of the institution in which such student is studying, may according to the nature and gravity of the offence:

(a) Suspend such a student from attending classes for not more than a week at a time; or

(b) Expel such a student from the institution; or (c) Disqualify such a student from appearing at the next ensuing examination; or (d) Rusticate such a student.

(ii) Before inflicting any punishment as aforesaid the head of institution shall give the student concerned an opportunity of personal hearing and records the reason for inflicting the punishment in writing.

(iii) The head of the institution concerned shall have power to suspend, for such time as may be necessary, a student temporarily from the institution pending enquiry into his conducting connection with an alleged offence.

(iv) The period during which a student remains suspended for completion of an enquiry shall be reckoned in the calculations of his attendance for appearing at an examination provided" she/he is found innocent.

(v) A student, who has been rusticated, shall not be admitted to another institution within the jurisdiction of this university. Ordinarily, the period of rustication shall not exceed two years. Other universities shall be informed about the rustication.

(vi) The rustication of student from an institution shall entail the removal of his name from the register of enrolled students.
